For quantum hiring leaders, September 2026 is a clear inflection in near-term activity: new job postings increased strongly across the ecosystem, but the gains are uneven by region, with Rest of World contracting.
As shown in Table 1, the global count of new job postings rose by +24.9% month-over-month. Regionally, the upside is most pronounced in North America (+38.4%) and solid in Europe (+19.0%), while the Rest of World declined (-14.3%). The management takeaway is straightforward: the market is not uniformly expanding everywhere—September’s global improvement is being driven primarily by North America and Europe, rather than by a synchronized worldwide recovery.
This September strength follows a near-term plateau and regional divergence in the prior month. Table 2 shows that August 2026 (final) was effectively flat globally at -0.1%, despite important regional differences: Europe weakened (-20.2%), North America rebounded strongly (+18.5%), and Rest of World improved (+4.9%). Read across Tables 1 and 2, the pattern suggests that the quantum talent pipeline is exhibiting rotation across geographies—periods of softness in one region are not necessarily a precursor to ecosystem-wide contraction.
From a longer-horizon planning perspective, the signal remains constructive. Table 3 reports that for September 2026, the trailing 12-month change in new job postings is positive globally (+4.5%), with Europe +1.4%, North America +8.2%, and Rest of World +1.0%. For HR directors and CEOs, this is the key governance point: September’s surge is occurring within a fundamentally improving 12-month context, which supports continued investment in hiring capacity, retention, and role readiness rather than treating the month as a standalone spike.
Finally, Figure 1 helps explain why month-to-month readings can feel volatile even when longer-horizon trends are moving in a broadly favorable direction. Over the prior 13 months, global month-over-month changes have swung repeatedly—ranging from declines such as 2026-11 (-16.3%) and 2026-07 (-9.5%) to increases such as 2026-06 (+22.1%) and now 2026-09 (+24.9%). Europe similarly shows sharp reversals (e.g., 2026-08 -20.2% followed by 2026-09 +19.0%), reinforcing that recruiting leaders should manage timing risk and maintain flexible workforce planning.
In September 2026, new quantum job postings increased sharply globally (+24.9%), led by North America (+38.4%) and Europe (+19.0%), while Rest of World contracted (-14.3%) (Table 1). The longer-horizon view remains positive (global +4.5% trailing 12-month change in Table 3), and Figure 1 confirms that the series has a history of rapid reversals—supporting a balanced, multi-horizon approach to workforce planning.
