A strong, competitive European quantum ecosystem is vital for the prosperity of the EU and the collective security of democratic nations worldwide. However, we are concerned that the current push toward technological sovereignty risks fragmenting the nascent and uniquely global quantum industry. This approach could ultimately have the unintended effect of slowing innovation and growth within the EU and driving up costs for Member States. Moreover, this approach has the potential to prevent like-minded countries from winning the race against common adversaries that do not have shared values or abide by international norms.
