Quantum Technology Workforce Monitoring Report

New Jobs Continue Monthly Decline

The monthly number of new job announcements for the quantum technology industry declined by 19.4% during December 2024, compared to November 2024, as shown in Table 1.  The North American region declined by 28.5% over the same period, while the European region declined less so, by 12.1%. The declines in December were more severe than the across-the-board declines reported in November 2024, compared to October 2024. As reported in Table 2.

Of note, the number of new job announcements for the trailing 12-month period through December 2024, shows that the number of job announcements is little changed from the trailing 12-month period through November 2024 — when looking at the data annually (see Table 3). Analyzing data using a 12-month window inherently provides a much smoother indication of open jobs activity from month to month as the month-to-month variances are less dramatic when annual data is examined.
