Mission

The Enabling Technologies TAC shall identify gaps and support enabling technology research and development (R&D) to enhance the quantum ecosystem. The TAC shall provide a platform for communication and collaboration within the quantum supply chain and provide a collective industry voice in guiding R&D investment priorities.

Goals

  • Enhance QED-C’s position as the industry thought leader
  • Amplify the collective knowledge of the quantum community
  • Strengthen the global member community
  • Deliver value through enhanced member engagement
  • Secure strategic investment in quantum technologies

Projects

  • Release an updated “Cryo 2.0” report to members.
  • Identify a compelling and timely topic for a workshop-based report in 2026. The workshop is tentatively envisioned for June 2026. Est. Publication: November 2026.
  • Prepare a report for members that evaluates the extent to which publicly-funded infrastructure (i.e., facilities that offer prototyping or test and evaluation services for quantum components or systems) meets the development and commercialization needs of the quantum industry.
  • Supply chain subcommittee volunteers will organize and propose one or two cryogenic test and measurement framework. The hope is that these protocols can be utilized by QED-C members to drive up quality and availability of components used in the quantum supply chain.

Subcommittees

Quantum Sensing

This subcommittee supports the development of enabling technologies—such as lasers, detectors, and control systems—that are foundational to advancing quantum sensing applications. This subcommittee collaborates with the Use Case TAC on various quantum sensor platforms that are used for quantum technology.

Quantum Software

This subcommittee focuses on the development and integration of software tools, frameworks, and interfaces that accelerate the practical use of quantum technologies.

Quantum Supply Chain

This subcommittee works to identify, strengthen, and coordinate the quantum supply chain ecosystem, addressing gaps and supporting scalable, reliable production of quantum-enabling components.
