The preliminary report (Table 1) reveals a significant drop of 13.3% in new job postings worldwide compared to April 2025 levels. Europe experienced a decrease of 10.4%, while North America saw a decline of 11.5%. The Rest of the World faced a shocking drop of 31.0%.
In contrast, the final report for April 2025 (Table 2) showcased a much more positive trend. Global job postings increased by 9.9%, with Europe leading at 11.6%, North America followed with an 8.1% increase, and the Rest of the World up by 10.2%. This stark contrast underscores the volatility within the job market.
Additionally, when examining the trailing 12-month count of new jobs, the preliminary data for May 2025 (Table 3) reflects a modest global increase of 0.8%. Europe recorded a slight rise of 0.6%, while North America saw a more notable increase of 1.8%. However, the Rest of the World experienced a downturn of 2.1%.
These statistics emphasize the shifting dynamics of the job market and highlight the importance of strategic planning in workforce development and talent acquisition as we navigate these erratic economic times. The rebound in April, now juxtaposed with the significant decline in May, suggests a potential instability in the quantum technology job market, echoing concerns raised in previous months.
