TAC

Commercialization & Use Cases

Identify and elaborate applications and use cases of quantum-enabled technologies, optimally organized for members by topics: Computing, Sensing, and Communications & Security. The output will inform companies across the supply chain — from component suppliers to users — as well as policy makers, government program managers, and investors.

Mission

The Commercialization & Use Cases TAC shall identify practical uses of quantum information science and technology (QIST), potential markets, and pathways for commercialization. The useful applications of QIST may be differentiated and classified by application, model or purpose. The TAC shall assess the readiness of these quantum technologies and any innovation gaps that may exist.

Goals

  • Enhance QED-C’s position as the industry thought leader
  • Strengthen the global member community
  • Amplify the collective knowledge of the quantum community
  • Deliver value through enhanced member engagement
  • Secure strategic investment in quantum technologies

Projects

  • The Commercialization & Use Cases TAC will continue its series of assessments that bring together quantum technology developers with end users to identify and prioritize useful applications and commercialization pathways. The TAC will cover three (3) topics in 2026: • Quantum Technologies for Securing Medical Data and Electronic Health Records • Quantum Sensing for Space and Defense • Quantum Computing for Oil and Gas
  • The Commercialization & Use Cases TAC will organize and propose one to three (1–3) sessions, which may include presentations or panel discussions, that showcase quantum applications for inclusion at QED-C flagship meetings and at leading conferences in other industry verticals. TAC members will volunteer to speak at three (3) conferences or webinars in other industry verticals to share the TAC’s findings and recommendations.
  • The Commercialization & Use Cases TAC will prepare a slide deck that documents real-world demonstrations of quantum technologies as a reference for QED-C members.
  • Host Live Debates

Subcommittees

Communications and Security

This subcommittee identifies and explores high-impact applications of quantum technologies in secure communications and networked systems, helping define practical needs and future capabilities.

Computing

This subcommittee brings together stakeholders to define and evaluate real-world problems where quantum computing can offer meaningful advantages over classical methods.

Sensing

This subcommittee investigates how quantum sensing technologies can be applied to solve critical challenges across sectors, from defense and healthcare to infrastructure and environmental monitoring.
