Goals

  • Maintain momentum on established TAC Activities such as the Office Hours Program and experiential learning proposals.
  • Implement ideas from the experiential learning (Q-LEAP) workshop into actionable program(s).
  • Compile ongoing WFD efforts across the nation and world.
  • Increase student involvement/participation (such as a student advisory group, increased participation at plenary meetings, hosting a quantum-focused student conference, etc.)
  • In conjunction with Chicago Quantum Exchange, survey quantum employees as respondents (rather than employers / hiring managers) with the end deliverable of a joint report / publication out to the community that fills gaps in info-gathering about the quantum workforce with a specific focus on the perspectives of employees (rather than employers).

Projects

  • Report from the 2024 Q-LEAP Workshop: Of interest to those developing/executing experiential learning programs, such as universities developing use-inspired curricula, industry running internship programs, those running summer schools/boot camps, etc. Outcomes will be analysis of current efforts and suggested ways to improve experiential learning.
  • Compilation of both ongoing and completed quantum workforce development efforts across the country and world.: Target audience is those interested in implementing WFD programs, such as new curricula, outreach initiatives, internships, summer schools/boot camps, etc. Outcomes will be an exhaustive list of WFD efforts with links and contact information for leaders of these efforts.
  • “Voice of the Quantum Worker” report (in conjunction with Chicago Quantum Exchange): Information could help guide education/skills-building and ensure that we are scaling a talent pool with the right sets of skills – and creating a workplace that will attract talent. Of interest to both educators and employers.
  • Co-sponsor the Quantum Education & Policy Summit and jointly write a report on the findings/outcomes. This report will describe the quantum education and workforce development landscape and include recommendations on how the quantum workforce community can implement a broad, collaborative education effort. Of broad interest to those working in quantum education/WFD.
