Quantum technology, including quantum computers, quantum sensors, and quantum networks, are making rapid advances. The technologies are deemed important for both economic and national security. However, quantum supply chains face critical vulnerabilities, including dependencies on strategic competitors for rare earth elements, exotic materials production, and key semiconductor manufacturing processes. This talk will explore the opportunities and risks associated with quantum supply chains based on a set of studies done for the NATO Transatlantic Quantum Community. The discussion will focus on key vulnerabilities and actionable recommendations, including enhanced coordination with existing semiconductor initiatives, the development of domestic processing capabilities for critical materials, and strategies to establish secure supply chains. These efforts aim to mitigate supply chain risks while fostering a more resilient and competitive quantum technology landscape among like-minded nations.
