Monthly New Quantum Job Announcements Soar

The quantum technology industry experienced a significant rebound in job postings during January, as evidenced by the preliminary data presented in Table 1. Global job announcements surged by 45.2%, with North America leading the charge at an impressive 47.2% increase over activity in the prior month. The European region, while still offering inspiring growth, reported a more modest, but significant, increase of 36.7% compared to its previous month. The Rest of the World saw the most dramatic growth, with an 80% rise in new job postings. This recovery is in striking contrast to the previous month, December 2024, when the global job market faced [Nov-Dec seasonal] declines across all regions, as outlined in Table 2.

In addition to the month-over-month changes, the trailing 12-month count of new jobs showed a slight increase of 0.8% globally in January 2025, as detailed in Table 3. North America performed particularly well with a 1.5% rise, while Europe experienced a negligible decline of 0.1%. This annual perspective highlights a more stable job market in the quantum technology sector, suggesting that while month-to-month fluctuations can be significant, the long-term metrics, and thus outlook, remain positive. The data indicates a potential trend toward recovery and growth, underscoring the resilience of the quantum technology industry in navigating an emerging stage of development.
